Sri Lanka Telecom(SLT) ADSL

ADSL made significant changes to my life and way I think about the future.
Internet is a vast ocean of knowledge and opportunities. SLTnet ADSL is a great gateway or a ship to surf in that ocean :-)
In my opinion SLT is the leading ISP in Sri Lanka.
Although SLT ADSL promises good speed, I find it bit slow. But comparing to other packages in the market, SLT ADSL is the best deal out there for normal users.
In my knowledge there are two ADSL packages for normal users.

1)Rs.1000 Package with
512Kbps down load and 128Kbps Up load
Monthly Rental Rs.1000.00
Monthly download limit 1Gigabyte
Additional 250MB costs Rs.250.00

2)Rs.2,250 Package with
Unlimited Surfing (24Hours)
Upto 512 kbps(Down)/Upto 128 kbps(Up)
Only Rs.2250 per month

I recommend the second option with unlimited surfing for only Rs.2250 per month.

Mirisa.org - A New Sinhala News Site

Mirisa.org is a new Sinhalese news site.
When I contacted Mirisa.org I found out that You don't need Sinhala fonts to read Mirisa.org just open Internet Explorer and type http://www.mirisa.org in address bar. and they said not to go thru search engines.

Steal My Sunshine

It is so weired I waited about six years to find the name of this song "Steal My Sunshine" by LEN. It's a real mood fixer for me, although it's a funny song which talks about Drugs and sex, Music of that song has a catchy and relaxing tune. It's funny that when ever I hear that song in radio, I somehow misses the name. But finally today I got the name when I was tuned in to TNL radio. Downloaded the song and listening it to like crazy.

Removable Disk Viruses

Removable disk viruses spread rapidly from computer to computer, viruses like MntDrCore.exe are popular examples.
There are some easy ways to prevant infection.

Do a virus scan when you mount your drive.

Never double click your removable drive icon, cancle your auto play and use Right click-->Explore to open your drive.

Use a firewall, So if your system get infected you'll get a warning from your firewall when the virus try to connect to the Internet.

SillyFDC.X - Virus/Worm

SillyFDC.X is a spyware worm which attack the registry and install it self.
SillyFDC.X helps install other spyware and steal data from the infected computer.
It spread through removable disk(pen drives).
I saw that Norton detected it but I still didn't checked it with AVG.

Sri Lanka Blood Bank - Donate Blood

Today I donated blood at the National Blood Transfusion Center at Narahenpita, Colombo 5 for the third time.
You should also try to donate blood at least once. It is not scary as you think.
Feeling of saving a life is so joyful that I cannot express it in words :-)
